Dog´s testimony - Sparks and Inoperable Congenital Shunts

After an exhausting search for a breeder, we settled on Sherlyn
Yorkies in Connecticut. My dog has always been an athletic, happy dog. The discovery that he had bladder stones caused from liver shunts at 1 1/2 years old, shocked my entire family. Little did I know that any dog (even dogs from show lines) can get genetic defects; symptoms may not be noticeable for years. Even at the suggestion that he had them (before he went in for surgery), I was doubtful. How could a high energy, always hungry, happy and beautiful dog have a genetic defect? But genetic defects can be hiding in any dog even despite a lack of symptoms. Our local surgeon made the diagnosis that my dog had inoperable congenital shunts. Cornell confirmed this.

I researched and spent a great deal of money trying to find the best diet and supplements for him. He has thrived on a homemade diet and supplements approved by Cornell, but still struggled with frequent bladder infections and leaking which has added to the ever rising medical bills. At our last acupuncture appointment, the needles inserted into the liver points, barely stayed in. In Chinese medicine, this is thought to mean that treatment is done; his liver is doing well.
